Need to use Network Drive for Exchange Data Base...Can it be done

Need to move across approx 172G of exchange db onto a large drive so I can run an offline defrag.
Trouble is 110% is needed, only option available is to use a snapserver with 800G of space so I can run the defrag then copy the file back to the array on the Exchange Server when its been done.
Trouble is I can't seem to be able to use a Network'd drive in Exchange to do it!!!!
Anyone got any cheats, tried all the ones I can think of
