Default Mac guru's I've lost the start up chime on my G4 PB

Any ideas on whats going wrong or how I can get it back?

I've tried resetting the Pm and the PRAM also repaired the disk permissions as well.

This happened then the machine started to randomly freeze.

I've had the machne for about 6 years. All seems fine other than that.

Think I may have found the problem.

When running hardware profiler off the start up disk. A bank showing red is a bad thing, right?

Going to see if the IT tech tomorrow to see if he has a spare anti static bag so I can play swapsies and see if the red bank moves.

Red would ususally indicate something is wrong. Certainly worth moving the chip and seeing if it blob moves. If so then a new chip should fix it

Hope so, even though it seems that only 1/2 the slice has failed.

Should have 1.5 gb but is showing 1gb.
