Default My X-Box RROD repair guide. With detailed photos.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH
The dreaded RROD...

1st step to repair
Carefully remove the face plate...

2nd step
Carefully remove both upper and lower casings. These are very fragile, So extra care is required...

3rd step
Very very carefully remove the drive unit.
Remember folks, Be gentle with it...

4th step
This is the important bit.
Choose your repair tool wisely! I chose this...

5th step
Beat the living crap out of the poorly made worthless piece of Microsoft tat...

6th step
Put it back together, And hey presto it works again.
The above method can be used on laptops, DVD players, iPhones etc etc

Actually, Step 6 isn't entirely true. I went out and bought a new one

No kit works. The xbox will be good for a few months and just break again. Trust me I had mine fixed by someone who knew what they were doing and problem came back. Less hassle and in the end cheaper to get a new one

I'm aware of the "fix kits" out there thanks. I'd already repaired it before.
It cost £130 for a new X-Box and i got more than £130 quids worth of pleasure by beating my old one to death. It was suprisingly therapeutic

nice post. My mate has the RROD every 2 months or so. And he swears that wrapping the console in a duvet for an hour fixes it for a couple of months!?

It's £77.49 for a used console - no gamepads, power supply or leads.

Cheapest at the moment looks like Amazon at £125.

Dave.
