Default Websites not displaying correctly.

For example the apple.com store @ Welcome to the Apple Store - Apple Store (U.S.)

On my PC, using the latest versions of FF, IE, Safari or Opera I get a white background, the text is in a column on the L/H side of the page and images of the items for purchase are missing. In Safari for example I get a white ? on a blue background.

Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Usually there is only 1 entry in the hosts file.

127.0.0.1 localhost

Comments in the file begin the line with a #

There might also be another entry if you have IPv6 enabled (this is ok):

::1 localhost

Spyware/malware are known to add entries to this file. If you have more than 1 of 127.0.0.1 entries, then these could have been put in by spyware scanners etc or there is something else running on your pc...
