I have this virus which keeps giving me popups and fake virus scans, it wont let me onto the internet on ie8 and keeps sending me to a fake page blocked page on firefox. avg and maleware bytes have both failed to spot it.

I've dealt with this virus/spyware twice in the last week. This is the only thing I found which would remove it.

Run a system restore as far back as you can, between this and possibly malware bytes in safemode.

I tried that and it did not work I have downloaded it but after 2 hours it has found nothing edit I found this step on another site before you run malware bytes, did you do this? Click Start, Run. Type command and press Enter. Type notepad and press Enter. Notepad opens. Copy all the text below into Notepad. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe] [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe] @="exefile" "Content Type"="application/x-msdownload" Save this as fix.reg to your Desktop (remember to select Save as file type: All files in Notepad.) Double Click fix.reg and click YES for confirm. Reboot your computer.

Did you use the full scan option in Malware bytes, not the quick scan.

Yeah it ran a scan for around 3 hours last night. I switched my computer on this morning though and avg nuked it in seconds
