I need a decent DVD player to go with my new mega TV..
..Is the X-Box DVD side as good as a top spec dedicated player?

I'd say it's more comparable to the lower end of the DVD market

Never seen a standalone DVD player run Halo this well
It's never going to be as good as a standalone DVD player is it? But you DO get to play games....
Now if the question was regarding Xbox vs PS2 (inc. DVD) that'd be different
