Default Snow Leopard

Getting my full retail copy today and going to do both imac and macbook tonight when I get home. Just interested what other people's experiences are once installed.

BTW there is a nice long list of stuff that works/may work or is broken here

Snow Leopard Compatibility: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Compatibility List

No issues on that list for me, but maybe some of you guys out there may come across a few that are affected.

I'm holding off upgrading my main systems for at least a week, if not longer, just so I can see if there are any gotchas, which there could well be.

Doing my dads Mac today, got it for the very reasonable price of £25 (Microsoft take note)

Not a huge difference I know but defo seems a little better for business this time around

What you mean is, you are waiting until I have done mine then ask if it was okay..*******

Have to be honest I do like Win 7 though and as an afterthought......

now that Apple has rid the Power PC part of it's OS I'm guessing that getting this to run on VM's and cracked PC boxes is going to be easier than it was before????

Have to be honest I've never done this or looked into this as I havent needed to (Mac at work dads Mac at home) but maybe they will find this easier

*** Installed ****

Well it was installed on both macs tonight. Each one took around 35-40 mins in total from start of install to desktop and opening of first app.

First impressions - well not a lot really apart from the new funky background But as they have said for ages, everything is under the hood and boy are some of the speed bumps noticeable.

Safari - Firefox etc. Much much faster and one niggly problem which I had before was the fact that some websites would keep the loading symbol in the url bar. Now in SL it is all gone

Time Machine - hooked up the Time Capsule and it is backing up as we speak. Will see how quick it is later

Quicktime X - much better and plays well

System prefs - some nice touches like time zone support, printer centre much better, airport etc

Scanning across the network - nice touch

Preview - always an undervalued app, but for the first time you can now scan directly into preview

Have tested pretty much all my apps and all seem to be working fine

More later

I stand corrected , I thought the entry level version was around that price.
Just checked, the pre-order price is what you paid , the actual price people will pay is what I said

This £25 is all fluff, previous version was £80+ and why are people worried about programs braking and holding off upgrades. All in all can't see much difference

P.S. Because PC hardware is cheaper you get several free OS upgrades thrown in
