Default Do we have any Mac experts here - printing query

Hi

Hopefully another Mac user might be able to help me here

Basically, got a PC running Vista, an a printer Epson R300 connected to it via USB. The Printer is shared.

The pc is connected to a netgear wifi router.

We have a new mac book pro (great bit of kit ) running OSX and trying to setup the system to print to the Epson - should be possible, but I've running out of patience with it after 4 hrs of trying.

It seems it can see the printer on the PC, and tried connecting to it using both IP and Lpc (??) and on printing keep getting "network host 192.168.1.5 (the pc's ip) is busy, will retry again in 5 seconds"

Seems nothing I can do can resolve this. The Mac connects to the internet find via wifi. Tried switching off the firewall on the pc to no avail.

Anyone offer up any ideas?

thanks

Someone call?

I'm no expert when it comes to printing issues with printers connected to PC's but I do at least know it can sometimes be a pain in the ****.

Have a read of this and also this and see if they are of any help.

Had the same issues with Vista. Didn't like the fact that the PC had to be on to share the printer, so I bought a Netgear print server (cost me £30-odd)

Got 2 printers attached to it - one for me, one for the kids

5 mins setup, compared to dealing with the travesty that is a Widows OS
