Win32.brontok - i sem to have it and cannot get rid - HELP
Morning,
I had a waring come up on my screen and clicked on the icon to immunise and it took me to some site trying to sell me software to cure it.
I have tried a google, found some info and d/led anti-brontok which picks it up when it opens but then will not spot or remove all of it as it keeps coming back.
I have tried to start in safe mode and run anti brontok as well as recommended.
Tried the Microsoft malicious software removal tool to remove it - no joy.
I have AVG and it did not pick it up either infecting my machine or subsequent virus scans.
Can someone help?

give this a whirl
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.37 - FileHippo.com
try in safe mode and update it before you run it
then...... might be an idea to remove AVG and get a better anti-virus package
http://www.eset.co.uk/promotions/ant...FYuB3godkFLpdw
Antivirus Products for Home Users
would be better bets

Thanks Mike,
Looks like it has gone, used anti-malware and super antispyware, ran aMalwarebytes nti malware in safe mode - incidentally on my XP pro service pack 3 equipped machine it would not run sup antispyware in safe node.
I am looking to upgrade the laptop and will invest in something a little better protection wise.

There is a specific removal tool for this..
http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Down...reeRemovalTool
You would have got this infection Paul via an attachment called "Kangen.exe" in an infected email or IM.
You wouldn't have got this if you were using Firefox and Gmail, just a thought.
