Regards GT5 - did anyone notice the crash damage / panel deformation on the rally car ? They were mindful not to show any other car damage. Also there was a (complete) person driving the car on the in-car camera.

Prologue was bloody awful
This really needs to be upping it to a much higher level, I think they probably lost a few potential customers with Prologue, I really dont know if I can be bothered if it plays like prologue it's just going to be a prettier version of GT3,4,pl ...
Looks aren't everything, just ask my wife

Damaged car looked intresting, also the fact that it might have a proper Nascar and WRC section of the game built in.
I will be suprised if it comes out in january, we know what the deal with GT is
i will also be suprised if its not just Prologue, with some rally cars and stuff bolted on!

At least the Forza 3 Demo had a tag stating it was actual in game footage (wether it was or not we can of course debate), I don't recall seeing the same on the GT trailer.
So they finally have damage, took enough time! It will be interesting to see how the two stack up.

I'm always completely cynical about GT trailers. It does look very nice though. Shame that every track shown has some sort of defined edge to them though, most noticable in the WRC section with mounds of sand perfectly lining each side of the road.
I will most definately be buying Forza 3, F2 is still regularly played and I bought it the day is was released. Thankfully it looks like there are new tracks (as in some of the original tracks from F1 that were sadly missing in F2). My one bugbear with F2 was that it was really lacking in tracks.

Froza 3 - 10 times more detail on the cars, 4x AA on the screen and that rewind facility looks sweet.
Shame he couldn't get the car to flip like he says they will. I'll take his word for it.

Just read this on AV forums about the tyres physics in Forza 3. Interesting if true.
FYI, Forza 3 has full tyrewear. It also has tyre deformation physics, i.e. when the car goes round a corner, and if you zoom in to look closely (as you can with the replay editor), you can actually see the tyre deform as the car goes around the corner due to the lateral force. The tyre deformation is also totally physics based, it is not just a canned animation of a tyre being pushed to the side. All done by the games physics engine, and that means the weight of the car, type of tyres, car set up, severity of corner, level of braking etc all have a bearing of the level of deformation the tyres experience as all of that stuff is physics based and all tied in together as it would be in real life. The deformation also works hand-in-hand with the tyre wear as obviously a tyre being deformed due to cornering stress is going to wear more quickly.
