Is my Xbox about to die ?
My 360 has had a bit of hammer this week as I was off work a couple of days, and I noticed after about 5-10 mins of play on a demanding 3D game, the screen starts to go funny, like this :
Does this mean the RROD are imminent ? It's out of warranty now, can I still get it fixed ?

I bought the console 2nd hand about 18 months ago, I doubt the warranty would be still in effect. Plus I already have it in bits on my kitchen table.

They charge somewhere around £80 for repairs if memeory serves. Personally, I'd just junk it and get a new one (with the better internal architecture/components). You can get one for around £130 these days...

Could try consolewizard.co.uk my Xbox360 kept freezing on startup but no red rings. Sent it away with their collection service. Unfortunately they couldn't repair it, but as they have a no repair no fee arrangement, got my £25 back and the console. Later sold it as a spares or repair on E-bay and got £65 for it

I have a fair bit of experience with Xbox 360s.
Looks like your graphics card is shafted but may be worth testing the cables first. If it is the graphics card then you may as well buy a new console tbh.
You can use your old HDD on a different console but any downloadable content wont work unless you're connected to XBL. Personally I'd take the opportunity to get an Elite and transfer your old data onto the new HDD.

Nice one cheers My old dead one is an Elite, so I already have a 120Gb hard drive. If I buy the Pro (which is quite a bit cheaper) will it still have all the same features / connections etc. as the Elite ?
