Default Virginmedia 50 Mbit and traffic shaping

do they dont they. 20Mbit is shaped. Been to cableforum, some say it's shaped others say it isn't. any 50 meg users out there confirm whether the XXL service is shaped at peak times.

cheers

Traffic management - Help - Virgin Media

Thinking of downgrading my connection; I'm on "L" (10MB) They are upgrading M to 10MB now , just with a lower threashold limit. I only ever hit the limit once.

Cheers for that. Just my luck I will get the 50meg service installed and they will start traffic management a week later.been waiting on this since before christmas last year still nothing in belfast. £51 for a throttled 12.5meg connection is a bit steep

All ISP's do some kind of traffic shaping, they would go out of business otherwise. The level at which they decide to throttle connections at certain times during the day is what you really want to know about. Plusnet where the worst for me on ADSL, as they never admitted they were doing it, although it was blatantly obvious they were.

Virgin sent me a leaflet offering an upgrade from my 20Mb to 50Mb. It stated they DO NOT throttle the bandwidth on that package. For now anyway!

I would like to get the 50mb line when it comes to my area but I only pay £20 for the 20mb line since I told them I was going to leave . If they limit the downloads its hard to see if the extra £15 a month will be worth it?? It will be the most anoying thing ever if they limit you to what the 20mb line has been limited to!
