Error Installing Xp
I installed Windows 7 Beta last week and now when I try to re-install Xp I get this message
'File acpi.sys caused an unexpected error (12000) at line 5964 in d:\xpsrtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c
press any key to continue'
Anyone know how I can fix this error? Or What is causing it?
Thanks

When you installed Windows 7 did you have to make any changes in your BIOS around the ACPI function?
Info about ACPI: Advanced Configuration and Power Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I take it you have tried a fresh install of Windows XP? I.e you went through and removed the Windows 7 partition by formatting the target drive?
How to install or upgrade to Windows XP
The next option would be to try a BIOS upgrade just in-case it's a bug in the BIOS version you have now.

dave247,
Did you re-partition and reformat the disk when you attempted to install XP?
Dunno about Windows 7, but a Vista installation starts the first partition at sector 2048 ready for the new "extremely big disks" (or something) where sectors themselves are much bigger. This will prevent an XP installation because such a partition layout isn't what it expects.
When you attempt to install XP, try re-partitioning from scratch via the XP CD, and hopefully things will work correctly.
