Acer Aspire One A150 £129 at Tescos!
Anyone picked one up? I rang round today and can't find one anywhere which is not surprising considering the price.
However just how usable is a netbook with a 8.9" screen as to me that sounds too small to show web pages effectively or any good to work on?
Any one know what the differnce is between the Aspire and the Samsung NC10 (apart from screen size) as they both have 1gb ram and the Atom 270 cpu?

Depends what you want it for......
I have an Eee and I basically use it to download stuff to watch on the train.
It's OK for occasional browsing and email, but not great for regular use - the small keyboard is more frustrating than the screen

Cheers. I was thinking about getting one for my son for his homework and web browsing etc. Also the Toshiba NB100 12A is going for £132 which has XP on it where as ther Acer is Linux. I use a 17" screen laptop so could never cope with a 8.9" screen for my own machine.

I installed Win7 on my A150 via USB, piece of cake I've since wiped it again and and put Vista on it which runs like a dream. I've installed a 1Gb RAM chip taking it to 1.5Gb and use a little MS bluetooth mouse with it. Apart from battery life, I love it.

Bit confusing from the Hotukdeas forum thread regaring this deal if it this version at this price comes with xp installed and is the ssd version as opposed to the HDD version ??
Like dj dunk above have the little acer myself already and have also done likewise with regards installing xp and upgrading the Ram - again thanks to same user for the constant answers to my requests for help on doing such tasks !!!
can honestly say that even if it does have linux as opposed to xp then would 100% advise going for it, it really is a superb little unit.

Did you put Windows on usb stick or on an external hard drive? Beofre you posted the forum link (which I haven't readyet) I found this:

You may even be pleasantly suprised when you check the spec on the pc itself and find its actually like the majority off them a 160gb version.
have a nice new and unused black padded carry case for the acer aspire one and also a new and sealled skin that I am selling for £15 plus postage if anyone is interested ??
skin was custom made in the us, merc slk /nice female !!! custom style- bought two one for me and one for dad but he decided he was a bit too old for that sort off thing !!!!
will try put up a pic off skin for you all to see but really is excelent quality, very easy to apply and best off all your acer wont become a finger print magnet anymore !!! covers the lid and wrist pad area.

I only saw the 4315 on HUKD here: Acer Aspire 4315 14inch laptop £121.85 @ Tesco - HotUKDeals Forum
I've installed via USB stick and also using a USB DVD drive and the DVD drive is the easiest but USB stick is faster although a little more complex to get started. The guide you link to looks similar to the one I used

Cheers mate. Well got it and is the 120gb model and very happy with it. Mine had the seal already broken but checked it and no finger prints on the case or keys or screen and booted up to the setup screen plus all bits present. A few on ukhotdeals have reported theirs being opened with bits missing. Quite liking the Linux on it so far so will look later at putting xp or win7 on it via usb stick.

I followed the instruction for XP on that link I posted thinking it would just copy the win7 files instead but it knows if it isn't XP and closes.

If I recall, I did XP first then Win7 (dual boot) both by USB; may have been the other way around, I don't remember. Both full installs, no upgrades.
If you're having problems, this simpler method may work for your USB drive: Acer Aspire One User Forum • View topic - INSTALL WINDOWS 7,XP,VISTA THE EASY WAY FROM USB FLASH DRIVE
There's a ton of other guides here too:

Cheers mate. Since posting last night thought about going the dual boot way so have XP when Win7 expires in a couple of months. Would like Vista on it but only have an OEM copy so tied to the machine its on so will have to go with XP.
Also as i've only got a 2gb usb stick which is not enough for Win7 I found articles allowing me create a boot partition on a usb hard drive without knackering what is on there - allegedly. Hopefully will get to have a play with it later and see what happens.

"INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing. status 14.
Thought it was going to be too good to be true being that easy in that link. Don't know how others get that method to work.
Seems to be working fine for Win7 though.

Keep looking, they are out there I went and bought a 2nd one today for my son as i'm keeping the 1st one I just phoned all the 'extra' stores in about a 30 mile radius until I found one. He has to wait until August for it though for his Birthday so bit of a wait for him

Just been in Chesterfield Tesco and noticed these so picked 2 up for £232 with the 10% off. They still have 1 left and another with the 8gb SSD for £99 if anybody local is still looking.

I was going to get an e-reader for pdf books and stuff but this seems a more versitile, cheaper option, whats the screen quality like for stuff like full colour pdfs and quick time video?
Battery life isn't an issue as i'd never use it too far from a mains

I think you will have trouble finding them for sale now as they are a clearance item. I've tried to locate a 3rd one and can't find one in a 30 mile radius of where I live and the stores I bought from have not had any more since the last two I bought. Trying to get a pink or white one for the wife and can't find any stock of any colour.
