End of the road for Flight Simulator
It seems Microsoft has disbanded the Flight Sim team, and it will be no more, seemingly FSX is it
Seems a shame after 27 years of writing Flight Sim that they have stopped it now

They'll probably licence the tech and name to some other studio, maybe one of the ones that does add ons. The FS geek community is huge and too big a market to not have someone exploit it.
I had MS Flight Sim on my Spectrum 48, couldn't master it but dipped into a number of versions since.

It makes you care and treat your passengers, as they do scream if you dont land properly etc
Also if you dont feed them or treat them to movies etc they bitch about you

I used that kind of add-on a few years ago but found it difficult to relate to the pictures without any terrain. Nav was never my strong point!
What are the best add-ons?
I've got old scenery and airport add-ons but I would imagine they are no good with the latest versions of MS.

Quite a few of the old FS9 addons do work in FSX but many with silly issues mainly around texture transparency, e.g. Windows you can see out of but not into. There are some Z-Order issues too. Aeroplane props can disappear behind distant clouds.
The old England/Wales photo scenery for FS9 came without a terrain mesh which was a separate product, the FSX versions come with a mesh. FSX's own mesh is much more accurate than before too. The mesh within Generation X from Horizon Simulation has height posts at every 5M to go with that 1.2pixel/metre photo texture.
