Question Installing programs on notebooks

I've 'inherited' a very basic sub notebook (a Medion 1210) in excellent working order. Of course, there isn't a CD/DVD drive! OK - I've got a spare MS Office licence - but what's the easiest way of installing the program?? Although I have a home router, I don't have peer-to-peer set up and am not keen to tackle the learning curve for an infrequently-used capability. Something tells me that s0d5 law will prevent me copying the installation disk to a memory stick, which throws me back onto a standalone external optical drive.

Are there any other options, anyone??

TIA

Take the CD
Use IMGBURN to make an iso image
Stick the image on a usb stick
Use Virtual Clone Drive to mount that image on the laptop as a virtual CD/DVD

LOL! Not a problem we 62year-olds have!

Probably PM you, as it'll be a day or two before I get round to it. The Notebook, that is!

Cheers

I have copied the entire contents of a MS Office CD to Memory stick without any issues. What I would also suggest if this is indeed an Office installation is to get hold of the latest Service Pack for it from the internet and put this onto the Memory stick also that way you won't have issues with downloading through the internet directly through the laptop. I believe you can get your patches directly from www.microsoft.com/downloads

Thanks jpor and Hank. I'd been too cynical - a straight copy of the program disk to USB and installation from there DID work (apparently). It was an Office 97 CD, and perhaps Microsoft weren't quite so defensive in those days!!

Cheers

Cool, glad you got it working. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best (but not as much fun!).

Nice. Just for the record the same can be done for both Office XP and 2003 editions too! Not sure about Office 2007 though.
