Display Driver Fault...
Hi all, I've got a fairly new Dell (6 months old) with a 21inch screen.
Today the screen goes black/blank for maybe 1-2 seconds then comes back to life. I am getting a warning message that says
"Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix. It gets rather frustrating when happening every few minutes.
Really appreciate it,
Chop

I would uninstall the driver and CCCentre from the add/remove programs in control panel.
Then go to device manager and uninstall the card.
After rebooting ignore the automatic device install and hit cancel.
Download the exact driver from the amd/ati website and install manually, then reboot.

catalyst control centre from the amd/ati website, if you look down the page you will see different options like driver only, driver with catalyst control centre etc (did the other week when I updated mine)
It is best to download the relevant software first then uninstall the existing software/drivers/hardware, reboot and then ignore any found new hardware request, and just run the downloaded setup program and hopefully that will sort things for you
Another thought, has any other hardware been added since the problem has occured, or any other driver updates?

Right going to try the download of the CCC as this appears to be where most suggestions to fix problem point.
I will give it ago now.
Jay - Not installed anything in the last week maybe 2 and problem started yesterday. Not installed anything since either. The problem seemed to come from nowhere.
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks for all replies
