I picked up motogp 08 cheap last week. The graphics are vastly superior to those in SBK 08, and there seems more to do (you get 125 and 250cc championships as well as challenge modes etc). Arcade or simulation handling models as well. My only complaint is that the AI seems a bit dodgy at times (computer controlled bikes seem to like ramming you).
Personally I'd avoid SBK08 and go for MotoGP 08 instead

saw my local games shop doing 06 for £4.99 today for a new copy
how does it compare with the new one?
played the demo from XBL and thought it was ok, but not worth RRP
actually, just had a thought that the 06 version might have a demo available as well?

Much the same, but with better graphics, more up to date teams/riders, and (alledgedly) better online play.
I didn't pay RRP for it. Picked it up for a tenner

I've got Moto GP 08 for the PS3, and the online play and racing is pretty good actually, IF you can find people playing it that is. Like most games that have been around for a few months, the amount of people playing online dramtically drop.
Most people tend to use advanced physics instead of arcade or the very difficult simulation. You really need practice before going online though, its a lot more diifficult to hit the appex perfect and get best laps than say games like GT5P or Ferrari Challenge, so you will get beat unless you practice a course alot before hand.
Another thing is, you need to play the single player game to increase the performance of the bike, which effects the way you race online. In other words, when you play online to start off with your not just inexperienced but you bike is actually slower! a pain until you've played the single player mode and improved it.
But overall, the best bike game around (SBK sucks, trade in straight away!)The rider's shoulder view, and two onboard views are excellent combined with the pops and bang sounds of moto GP bike,s make you feel right in the action, and you can get a real buzz once you start hitting the apex's perfect at full angle while racing in amongst others.
