For all you retro arcade boys!
I picked up a Jap Candy Cab yesterday that has been converted to run mame. Just clearing one of the other spare bedrooms out, so will post some pics and possibly video later.
Was a bitch to get up the stairs!
I have always wanted a proper arcade cabinet, and finally took the plunge yesterday.
I managed to get a base set-up sorted yesterday, so have the monitor picture looking how I want it..... as close to original as possible with scanlines etc. Was quite shocked that the company that sells the cabs, said that I was the first person that didnt like the crystal clear image on the monitor...... mortals that don't know what it should really look like hey!
People that are in to this scene already know that a lot of converted cabs now house LCD monitors, which look absolutely gash imo. Luckily this has a CRT monitor as nature intended it.
Here's a picture of the exact cab I have, taken from the companies website.

£1100+vat. Look around at the prices of fully working mame cabs and you can easily double that price elsewhere, and imo using far inferior parts (crap controllers and LCD monitors). This price is very very resonable imo.
I was going to build one or refurb an old cab, but don't really have the space or time tbh.

HankScorpio,
Yes.... the coin mech. is fully functional but is not connected to the credit switch. Easy enough to do.
DJ Dunk,
ABS Plastic..... it is a veritable lightweight (circa 60kgs) compared to a wooden cab. Most stand-up cabs from the 90's onwards from JPN are of the ABS type.

Unit is all set-up now in it's final resting place (after I threw away a spare double bed that was in the room - this missus was not best pleased lol), so I just have a few more tweaks to do to the mamewah frontend.
I will take some pics tonight and try and do some video to post up.
I'm tempted to get a decent "fruity" in the room now and possible get another Candy Cab with a vertical screen to suit the "shooters" better.
G00ner,
You're right!!!

A good pinball or driving game should be next on the list, you'll very quickly tire of a fruity.

Nearly 20 years now, started as a school leaver cleaning fruitys.
Street Fighter IV not getting much of a Euro release is it? it's on the consoles in Feb or March I think.
I've got a Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting though.

If I could it would have to be the Star Wars Pinball and either Daytona, Sega Rally 2 or Ridge Racer for driving.
Had a "fruity" before, and agree with you to an extent, but you can pick these up for next to nothing now.

I saw a pic of a huge tip/waste dump in China the other day. FULL of classic arcade machines. They used to use them up until a couple of years ago when they started importing all the current new ones. Now they're all being crushed, there were litterally 1000's of them waiting to be crushed. They'd be worth a fortune over here

I would love the following
Williams defender
Berzerk
Starwars sit down cab
Gauntlet 4 player
and a good multiball pinball machine...

Shaun, you can get pins up the stairs easy enough, the back box comes off, not much of a job to do.
Nat, no doubt a lot of those Chinese games were bootlegs, no value in those.
Mart, I've had or still own most of the classics that I liked as a kid, but always wanted a Robotron 2084 or a Donkey Kong.
