PS3 Hdd upgrade > A word of warning
Looks like since the 2.53 update the upgrade on the hdd isn't as straight forward as before.
I've just changed my machine to a 320GB Hdd and on first boot up it asked for the 2.53 update file to be present on a media device. In the end I had to place the update in the PS3 folder on my USB hard drive and allow it to find it and do it's thing. Only then would is format the new Hdd and allow me to recover my backup from the external usb drive ?
I might have missed something but all the guides I found didn't mention any of this !
All working now with 240GB free after my restore

I had to do exactly the same thing when I did mine, that was a few revisions ago though. I had to reinput all my account details and stuff as it lost all of the settings. Seems a bit random, some do it, some don't.
