I have a 305 and use it for Road cycling.
I've looking into changing my unit for a 705 and it's all about the maps you load into it. Just make sure you buy the topo map pack for off-road and it will do everything you want it to do.
wiggle seem to be fairly cheap for the team unit at the moment.
