Recommend Me A Lappy
Should be simple huh but I've been using a work Dell Lat D620 for a while now & great though it is, I need a personal lappy as I'm spending 4 nights a week away from home & as its a pool one, can't be installing all that I want etc - that plus the AUP transgressions
Wouldn't mind the ability to play games but not important. Would prefer XP Pro over Vista, not too worried about storage, fast/RAM goes without saying, wireless & nice if DVD but not essential (can go external). Budget is credit card or hp but don't want to pay stupid money. Battery life as much as possible and portability/weight (or lack of) very important. 13" min screen.
Any recommendations out there for me?

Bugger, Gary got in before me
I was going to say MacBook or MacBook Pro, either brand new (Might be worth having a word with AllanB) or Apple Refurb for a used one.
I'd probably go the Boot Camp route, as it'll give you 100 percent of the performance of the beast, whereas running a VM would not.
Guess it depends if you ever want/need to do Mac stuff.
One other point, check the graphic chipset the Macbooks use and make sure any games you'll be playing will work on that. I seem to recall that Spore wouldn't work on some of the early MacBooks as they didn't have a powerful enough graphic chipset.

If portability is important, I'd be looking at the Dell XPS 13 range and the Samsung Q310 (I think).
Important to decide if you want 13, 14 or 15 inch screen as that's a huge factor in cost at that range. I have a 14 HP I use in the lounge, 15 would be too big but would like 13 to travel as 14 still a bit big.
