I'm not sure how publicised it was to be honest, I stumbled across it on Xbox Lives Major Nelson last weekend......

Well I got the dashboard this morning and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Install is very quick, less than 2mins and it's done. Initial thoughts are it's a lot cleaner and easiser/faster to navigate than the old dashboard, it also looks and feels more professional.

The avatar creation is a bit tedious, and you have no choice, you have to create one! It's clearly a blatant rip from the wii, although the 360 does it so much better.

I copied a game to the HDD ( PGR ) and can't say I noticed much difference in load times, the fact that the console played the game quietly made up for it though.

I'll have a proper mess this evening.

What does this mean for the old Gamercard? Does the gamerpic and rating still play a part? Also if you have downloaded a previous theme do you just lose it?

You'll still keep your gamercard and any themes are still compatible with the NXE.

Although you have to create a character/avatar you can still use your old gamerpics. Your gamercard/points are still there.

New Xbox Experience on Flickr - Photo Sharing! ( Not mine but a good example )

Old themes work, but I would expect plenty more new themes to arrive to suit the new format.

Gamercard with NXE Avatar:

It's on the torrents

New Xbox Experience NXE Full Preview : Games > XBox 360 - Mininova

You can't use Xbox live with that preview version though, can you with yours Mogsi?

I can't see the point in the star system. The percentages are way out, it says something like 66% of mine liked or didn't rate (which never goes up) and I keep getting negative reviews for foul language and I never use my headset! I was hoping they would drop this prior to the update

Erm, why would you want to copy a movie to the hdd then watch it? if you have the movie then simply watch it?

Watch dvds from the dvd drive, or watch divx from a memory stick or dvd/cd. Theres nothing wrong with the mm capabilities.

Anyone transferred Forza2 across to HDD yet? If so, is it any quicker loading up the garage.

But you still need to put the disk in for the games to work, if you applied the same principle to DVD's it would defeat the object.
