Default Free version of Crossover (Run Windows on Mac)

For today (28th October 2008) Codeweavers is giving away free versions of it's Crossover applications for Mac and Linux.

Crossover uses WINE to allow you to run Windows applications on a Mac.

Pop over here to request a serial number and download the software.

I've used an early version of Crossover and it wasn't too bad. It allowed me to run Steam and Half Life 2 through it, and seemed to work pretty well. They now have a specific "Games" version of it as well, so that's nice.

Download and have a play, when it's free, there's nothing to lose!

This isn't the same as Fusion - Crossover allows you to load applications inside a Wine wrapper, so you don't need the Windows OS loaded to do so.

It supports more than just the "listed" apps

Someone smarter than I will be along to tell us otherwise but AFAIK it supports client software not server apps like SQL or VS. For those you need to use a Virtual OS not a Windows Emulator.

To install s/w not in the Crossover install list you click the "Install Unsupported Software" button in the Crossover Installer.
