Mobile broadband......any good ??
As above really
Just thinking about getting a "3" dongle at £10 per 1 gig "pay as you go" to keep me going when I'm out and about
Very light internet use...checking work e-mails and the all important crucial SN chat.
Do they work ?
Cheers

They do technically work well (i am on the 1GB/month contract), but watch out on PAYG. If your credit "expires" you default to the quid-a-meg service, so by the time you have registered your credits online, you have already spent your tenner!!!
It might have changed recently, but my boss went mental when he realised where all his credits were "disappearing" to.

I've had no problems, unless the only phone signal is 1G - its like using an old 56k land modem.
If you are also looking for a phone then combine the two needs and use PDAs or some smartphones running Windows Mobile internet sharing.
The phone can then be used as a modem linked to your laptop or PC.
Its been very useful when out and about or for the PC when broadband has gone AWOL.

I have a T-Mobile one and it is really good. You may want to check the prices as T-mobile tend to price match with 3 with the additional free capability of using wireless hotspots while you are out and about.
The 3G connection is very good, it is very painful when it reverts to GPRS/EDGE.

I've been on the £15 "3" bundle for a while now, it seems really good. As a bonus, it leaves Vodafone for dead when comparing it with my mates laptop with back to back tests.
It largely depends on the sites your viewing how quick they download, this site is slower than google for example, but then there's more going on.
Just be prepared for how much power the dongles consume, get a car adaptor!

I only pay £7.50 per month for mine as my mobile is on 3.
Overall it can be fiddly to get a signal but once you do its stable enough.
As others have said, the GPRS can be slow!

I got mine half price as I am a customer already. They may offer an incentive, failing that go to the shop which throws in a new laptop free if you sign up for the mobile broadband.
Think its carphone warehouse and PC world.
