More recently, PC's are fixed by telephone support teams, we all know the ones, charged at a £3.00 a minute, placed on hold for hours and when you do get through, someone talks in complete gibberish, asks you to press a few buttons and hangs up, did they fix your computer? - I guess not.

Cant see the advert from work, but to be honest it doesnt wind me up, fair play to them for having the vision to get a load of freeware titles and burning them to disc and selling them. A lot of people with computer problems dont know how to use search engines properly to find fixes to their problem

its simple business.
buy an orange for next to nothing, and sell it for thousands off pounds, anyway you can.
are you jealous of them because they are making money from the gullible?
if people are stupid enough to give money away for free stuff, then let them get on with it IMO

Would be interested in were the £1000 worth of retail comes from
which changes to £500 in the ad
And I also thought that most freeware software included the following in the T&C's
eg
"RamBooster is POSTCARD/FREEWARE, meaning that you can use and distribute it freely as long as you include the readme.1st-file with the program. You are not allowed to modify the program in any way and you are not allowed to receive any money for delivering the program. "

tbh back in those days only the wealthy had dial up accounts to the states and they spent a lot of money (phone bills) downloading software (at 300 baud) making up floppy discs and creating labels and selling the floppy Discs for around 1.50 to 2 quid each
But they managed to make good money for a while

Perfectly legal, as they never actually sold the software, you were paying a small fee for the duplication services
