Default Office Questions ...

Helllooo,

I have an interview for which I am very excited .. I know my stuff with regards to the required bits, but I have supported Office in a year or so...

I was hoping you could supply questions and if possible answer to possible support issues .. more for the role than the interview so I feel like I can do the job correctly...

Surely someone here must have hired people for Office support.

XML convertors, saving from 2007 down to 2003 versions, image manipulation in word, cell formatting and equation flows in excel etc etc

and also they get upset if they cant find shortcuts to it on their desktop and get into a right tizzy

TBH mate most office problems are down to stupid users, and simply fixed, i doubt you'd get much call for people doing complex vba scripting.

If you're confident at using office yourself then you should pretty much know the basics. If people lose icons, menus, just restore default settings

I have found the best thing for Office Support is a big stick with a blunt end for your hand, and a sharp end for the users, you find they stop logging calls pretty quickly

Most calls are likely to be format & formula related, mostly with Excel.
I aint had many calls regarding Word or Powerpoint.

Password protection, Charts in Excel, Macros & Outlook are the most common from my experience

Access is a sticky wicket for me as I just dont use it often enough.

Oh and not forgetting SAP integration into Office, which is getting easy.
Most companies are using SAP now, which eliminates a lot, believe me.
