Provided she has the chat log option turned on , the you go into C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Document\My Received Files\<folder with the account name>\History
It will list conversations by name - So *all* converations she has had with "dave" will be listed under "dave".

It needs to be enabled in the options, not sure if it is by default.
It's in Options / Messages
Tick the box which says Automatically keep a history of my conversations.
Just below it tells you where it stores them, default location is my documents / my received files \ msn email name \ history.

To enable logging of chats in MSN she'll have to be logged into her account for you to go to options & tick the box. It's not enabled by default.
If you're really that worried there's software you can get for monitoring IM conversations like this
I told my daughter to assume that all her conversations are logged so she wouldn't give out any info she wouldn't want others to be party to. I did try monitoring it when I first got her a PC but teenagers produce so much crap on MSN its not worth trawling through ! Try talking to her about it instead.

If you have a computer as well (I'm guessing you do) something like ICQ Sniff is a scary piece of software. Install it on one of your computers and you can see in real time all the MSN and Yahoo conversations that are going on on all the computers.

Update daughter is 14 and as not ticked the option to save messages, so it looks like the only alternative is to block msn totally or go for the spyware
Thanks for the help everybody.

You can get a 30 day trial from here: Download Center - IM Monitor Software
After that you can buy it or look on various Bit Torrent sites.

To be honest I think you'll read things you dont want to .. I would probably show her it is recordable and tell her you will only check if she gives you reason to ...
I'm not a fan of the whole monitoring yours kids thing .. maybe save it and then search through for certain words ...
I'm sure she has things she wants to talk to her friends about that are private.

Why don't you turn it on and see what happens. If she leaves it on, then all well and good. If she turns it off, then ask her why.

I would go along with that. I installed it and my next door neighbour (which is a couple of hundred meters away so I was impressed with the signal strength!) seemed to be 'borrowing' my wireless connection.
I REALLY didn't want to read the stuff their 14 year old daughter was writing, so much so that I removed that IP from the 'sniffed' ones.
