Default Registry cleaners ??

Just wonder if these registry cleaners actually do anything off real importance to your pc ?? reason I ask is that I have just ran a scan off two different reg scanners one after the other and was somewhat surprised to see that even after scanning and fixing /cleaning up errors etc found on the first software the second reg scanner ran straight after this found several hundred empty registry keys. is this normal and if so why ?? just what are these empty reg keys ??

Yep they certainly do help. The less registry Windows has to process on bootup and general use, will improve performance.

Once certain keys have been deleted it may result in more orphaned keys appearing. Empty keys are left over from software uninstalls usually.

What cleaner are u using? Get CCleaner as it's one of the better ones.

The registry keeps all the data for programs, environments etc.

The keys left behind can be from Demo software etc, even if you uninstall demo apps etc the keys remain.

As Bio said CCleaner is very good. Does exactly what it says on the tin

Do be careful from downloading Malware which claims to clean your registry etc as this will corrupt more than you realise.

Use trusted sites like download.com or tucows. This is just my advice.

Was covered a few weeks ago and ccleaner.com came out tops , I have been using this for quite a few years and never had a problem.

Also good for deleting programs and stopping programs from starting on boot up.

Now I have to remember all my bloody passwords and logon ids, doh!
