Anyone watch sky through a DVB-S card?
Relating the huuuuge thread on AVforums - which the initial reccomended equipment is now obselete and discontinued (kustompcs do modern counterparts though).
Anyone actually done it? And how much hassel was it to get working.
I understand you need to put the card back into the skybox every now and then to keep it alive. But was wondering if the complexities of programming the CAMs and getting the right DVD-S card was easy enough to overcome. As well as getting a stable reliable system.
It would be nice to be free of the reign a Sky box holds you too, and save using a RGB/s-Video feed which ruins picture and audio quality.
Although I might switch to Virgin, which means the same question applies to DVB-C cards. AFAIK its all hush-hush (can't see why if you pay a legit subscription ).

Dont switch to VM I've had nothing but nightmares on my TV service. The BB was OK but TV used to freeze or jam. The remote would stop working etc.
Just moved to a new place and there is no way I'd go back to VM

The switch to Virgin would only be based on if I can get a V+ box and be able to get a DVB-C card working.
DVB-C = no crappy box freezing all the time, as its all done by the computer. (the original Pace boxes was the reason why I switched to Sky in the first place )
