Default Tosh Laptops - Processor swapping?

Silly question time:

I have 2 Toshiba laptops:

A 17" Equium L350-10L with a T2370 CPU
and a 15" Satelite Pro A120-201 with a T5500 CPU

Now, it turns out that I'm using the Equium more than the Satelite, mainly due to the numeric keypad (accounts ). So seeing its going to be the prime computer, it would be nice if it had the better CPU.

Was wondering if this is actually possible

The sockets should be the same, so the issue is if the motherboard will support it, and if the the heatsink/fan will cope.

Any opinions?

if the processors are built on the same process (say 65nm) then I would think it would work

Actually, I've been looking, and it seems the only real difference between the two CPUs is the L2 cache (1meg vs 2meg) and the FSB (533 vs 667).

So I'm starting to think if there is any real differnce that would make it worth the bother....

I think I need to try a few benchmarks to asses performance before I mess about cracking them open.

also if you swap the cpu then you may have to swap the memory to get full advantage (assuming the memories are matched to their respective processor in each machine)

If its only accounts you are doing then I cant see there being too much difference anyway to be honest, now if it was decoding/encoding video then yes
