Default RROD :(

had my xbox for a year and a half and tonight its packed in been makin wierd noises the past few days and randomly freezing now i can only play it for 5 mins then it freezes. got RROD once but i turned it off then back on and its just freezing but rings havnt came back. is this what happens normally?

It lasted that long? Mine failed after 6 months, then again a year later. Count yourself lucky. Send it off to Microsoft and your get it back in a week.

suppose it did last longer than a lot of peoples, have emailed microsoft and will see what they say. just hope the storys of their "customer support" dont turn out to be true lol

imo customer support is very good (plenty of experience of RROD ).

mine took about 10 days to get there,be repaired and return and has the quieter drive

My launch day console failed last night. No prior warning just switched it on and voila RROD.......

Still got my launch day ... it does get quite loud when playing for hours ... its been modded but it was done well so I can still send it back if it fails.

hmm its started working again for now..but im not holding my breath :P how did you mod yours? ive heard of people cutting holes in the case to let more heat out but i think that may void my warranty :P

You know the labels you get for floppy disks .. the waxy paper they come on slides right under the warranty sticker .. and it keeps its stickiness
