Unhappy RROD - Is this normal?

Just had my first RROD Switched on for some R6V action, first game, chatted for a couple of minutes or so, 30 seconds in to a game, switched weapon, screen went black...
Restarted, did a another 2 mins, froze with image still visible.
Third time on, RROD.

Left a few minutes, it will now come on again.
Is it just a matter of time before it's permanent RROD.

Just don't want to send it off if it comes back reporting nothing wrong with it...

Anyone managed to get an Elite replacement or anything?

This unit is about 15 months old, bought in November from Blockbuster.

My question is though, after getting the RROD, will it still work and then keep freezing or is it usual, once you've got it, it always appears and the console never works again.
It's just that I was able to play for a bit this morning, then it froze again, but only after about 3-4 goes do you get the RROD.

i think they slowly become more and more frequent, until its on all the time?

i have already decided that when mine dies, i`m going to buy another one, and when the broken one comes back from MS, it will be used as a media machine for the bedroom

exactly what happened to mine, just keep trying to play it and let it crash, eventually it'll just be the RROD. 2 weeks return time from Microsoft too
