Default Vista + ATI driver problem - grrrrrrr

My lappy seems to throw a wobbly whenever i view fullscreen video.

The screen goes black until i press escape to get back to normal size viewing, then i get an error message saying something like.

R600 driver has stopped responding and recovered.

Everything is then fine until you do the same thing again.

Ive been on the ATI site and downloaded the latest drivers but no joy.

Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

Its not really the player causing the issue, this even happens on youtube. Its as soon as anything is viewed in fullscreen mode, even happens when i plug in an external VGA monitor.

it's not a Vista issue, it's ATi not providing robust drivers! I have zero issues with my Nvidia 7800GS n 8800GT in the 2 rigs that I run on Vista.

I will say that it is an ATI issue and not a Vista issue

ATI seem to be quite lacking thesedays on the quality front, my HP laptop (although doesnt suffer from that problem above) it does lock up once a day at random

It is a known fault and if I report it to HP they will replace my laptop but only for one with the same fault, as they or ATI cannot seem to resolve the issue

It doesnt matter on the OS either, does it with any version of any OS

Right click on the video, in properties disable hardware acceleration, then give it a try.
