Default I have a problem with IE6, anyone have any ideas ?

For the last few weeks its been viurtually impossible for me to use internet explorer 6, websites can take a good few minutes to load up and all the graphics seem laggy and sometimes they don`t leven load up.

I have pages hanging, websites half loaded and sometimes crashing. I defrag on a regular basis and clear cookies etc, i have decent RAM and have checked all the common things that can slow up browsing etc.

I am on 2 meg broadband via NTL/Virgin, ive never had any problems in the past with IE6 but recently its become a bit of a joke, mozilla firefox is fine and i have no problems. Its just ineed IE6 sometimjes otherwise i would use firefox all the time..... Any ideas ?

Why are you still using IE6 and not IE7? I'd be running some spyware scans if I were you...

Ive done that Ian, ive run both spybot S+D and AVG and both are upto date and everything comes back clear. I once used IE7 and didn`t like its layout so went back to IE6.

IE6 is full of security holes, and is not actively being supported any more (so any bug / security fixes are far and few between). Not a good idea to still be using it.

Don't rely on AVG either. That lets through tons of nasty stuff.

Ive changed my browser to IE7 and ive also changed my anti virus to Nod32, touch wood it seems smoother so far. I didn`t need to change my anti virus but with you saying AVG wasn`t the best i did some google searching and Nod32 seemed to be rated very well.

Yep, I use Nod32 as well. Seems the best of the bunch (and I've tried them all)...
