Default Anyone recommend my mum a good laptop deal

My mum want to buy a laptop to replace the dinosaur of a desk top she has now, she basically wants to use it to surf the Internet and do pretty basic work tasks on it, word excel etc.

Anyone know of any good deals about, I think she fancies a DELL machine, but could be swayed.

Cookie EBuyer are doing an HP Compaq for £289 with 1Gb RAM and an 80Gb hard drive. Nice little machine for the money IMHO

Too late, just phoned her with the details in this thread, she popped into a shop today and liked the appearance of a DELL machine and bought it

Best part of £500

I was going to say the Dell Inspiron they are advertising at £399.

Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD etc

Can't really beat that.
