I spent around 140 hours on that game. I'd go as far as to say as it's one of the best games I've played on any current (or last) gen console

Obliviowiki will become your best friend.
Starts pretty poor, but Jesus does it get addictive...
I actually found closing Oblivion gates to be as dull as dishwater though, luckily I got away with only doing 3...

This is probably the first rpg i've actually spent time on and finished 100%, never played any of the morrowind series previously but heard plenty of praise for them.
First few hours while you're finding your feet seem a little boring, but once your character starts building up and you get your horse and a feel for the game it was truly addictive.
As stated above, mix up the action with a main quest mission, then some guild quests and maybe some side missions. The main quest is pretty short on its own and you'll be missing out on plenty if you don't explore the guilds

But the beauty of the game is the many different ways things can be done. Bored with the Main Quest? Then don't do it. Someone actually got about 4/5 of the way through a mod where you'd begin the game after the MQ was finished: you'd find destroyed Oblivion gates, a man dressed in the Champion's armour etc. Get bored with playing? Mod the hell out of the game (it's pretty simple) then try again. Want to try Conducts? I've had one character get to level 40 without ever talking to another character. I had one who never did quests, just quartered the map trying to find every location (I believe that vanilla Ob has just over 300) and rob it. Be honest and never steal anything. Steal EVERYTHING. How high can you get your fame? (128) Your infamy? (-56 IIRC). And so on. I spent a good few hours playing The Witcher recently, and it just made me go back to Ob.
