Just back from a break to Alton Towers. Wow what a place..
Although the setting and the rides were great I thought that Nemesis and Oblivion were a bit over rated.
Why?
Well us Scooby owners can get all the thrills in our own back gardens.
Nemesis was just like driving the Scoob giving it Max Bad on my favourite country roads while the G force of Oblivion was comparable to dumping the clutch at 7,000 rpm at the lights.
Ahhh us Scooby owners never had it so good……….
Mind the £60 petrol bill was a perk that I could well do withought.

Still shakin Greg

The incredible Hulk at universal studios islands of adventure kicks some serious @rse even better as we went on it 7 times in a row with no queing what so ever all so duelling dragons at same place, went to alton tower about 4 weeks ago and could only just about manage half the rides in a day.

Simon
Ps Oblivion does rock though not as much as one scooby at midnight down a nice wide country lane

Cool

Mr Coookie!!!!
Oh my god, and i thought i was the only one who did this!!! During March/April this year, I was out in Lakeland Florida doing alot of my training.
While there, we went to Islands of Adventure for a laugh. From getting in there first thing in the morning, we started on the Hulk.Hope i am talking about the same one, it's green and you get accelerated so fast unexpectedly (on the upslope at the start that you just get a major big grin on yoru face)
Well, after that first time we just kept going on and on, and it started getting really busy, so we went to the dragons, they were good fun (I liked it when you were both heading for each other ) , but they were nothing compared to the hulk. We wanted to go back there soo much we just couldn't resist ourselves, and to our surprise there were virtually no cues. I've never been on a rollercoaster so much in my life and had so much fun (sad i know ) We must have been on that thing at least 16 times.
Glad to know someone else has shared that experience , Ian

PS- I was sad and got a photo for the memory lol

Mr C & Hos

Hulk was great, but don't you wished you'd never seen the start before going on? As I was checking out the rides I saw the 'boost' up the ramp, so anticipated it when it was my go.
Did you think the spiderman ride was clever? (allthough not a touch on hulk).
Anyone been on the 'search for Atlantis' ride in Las Vegas? In Ceasers Palace I think. Is there anything like it in the UK?

cheers

Justin

Jay, from watching other rides i noticed the initial acceleration, but I didn't think it was goign to be anything as goood as what it actually was
Spiderman ride was over-rated i felt. Although very good visual dispays and good use of creating illusional affects both Horizontal and Vertical... It didn't appeal to me all that much.
We also went on the ride that shoots you vertically up... 4 people to each section. When i went in , the doors sealed behind us and I couldn't get my seat buckle to come undone (so while everyone is strapped in laughing i'm stood there with the warnings going off) lol caught me out for a moment, but fortunately an attendant came around and sorted everything out
Which is the best of the best then in the uk and us? Is the Pepsi Max ride in Blackpool anygood?

All though not a ride i think the best thing in an amusement park has to be Terminator 2 3D, If i remember right it was in universal studio's absolutly stunning from the queing system to the actual thing (even if arnie did whack me on the back of the head as he came running round on the third time of watching it, quite funny really because he look like he wanted to stop and apologise but because of timing could'nt).

Thanx
Simon
Ps Southseas rollercoaster wins as the most scariest im sure its just gonna collapse one day
PPs Bush garden is Cr@p apart from water rides and its got a nice maze(Oops sorry thats there pathways aint it)
