Default fasthosts - recent security breach ?

Someone was asking me if I've heard of fasthosts as a web host.

I seem to remember something before christmas on here regarding a security breach ? Can anyone shed any light on this ?

or did I just imagine it ?

Yeah, they have had a couple of security breaches recently.

There were a few people on here that were affected. They basically were hacked and forced everyone to change all of their passwords. Those who did not do that were locked out for a period of time while it was all sorted.

There were a fair few posts in this section relating to this recently.

Yes they had the security issue in December but at least they were man enough to admit they had a problem, advise all customers and take action to avoid data theft/loss etc. Apart from this issue they are certainly the best host I have had.

I used them about 6 years ago. Utterly tosh in every aspect, however I'd expected them to get their act together since then.

According to some of the comments I've now read, it appears they're still up and down.

I've been with them for about 4 years now. Easily the best service I've had from from any provider (and I've tried a few). The recent "hack" to the system was the first problem I've ever had, and that was dealt with quickly and professionally...
