Whats this PC worth?
I'm thinking of changeing one of my spare rooms back into a proper usable bedroom. At the moment its just a room that collects clutter and has one of my PC's in there which I'm thinking of selling. I'd appreciate if anyone could give me a guide price which I should be advertising it for
Basics are;
ECS KV2 Extreme M/B with VIA K8T800 Pro chipset
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ CPU
1024 Mb DDR Ram + 2 empty slots
Nvidia Geforce 7800 GS Gfx card ( 256 Mb on board )
Hercules 5.1 Game Theatre Audio Accelerator with external rack (inc speakers)
Maxtor 250 GB HDD (7200 rpm)
Pioneer 112D DV-R DVD-RW
Network Card
17" Video 7 Flat Screen Monitor
Lian Li Brushed Aluminium Case with 2 side panals , clear or aluminium
Would be installed with a fresh copy of XP Pro / SP2
I built this unit just over a year ago and it runs flawlessly
Cheers
Phil

yep, afraid so Steve,. Since me and the other half split I've been doing a lot of things in the house ( mainly AV ) and this room is cluttered more than ever although lots of stuff has been thrown & its getting clearer , but now want to put this room back to a functioning bedroom.
I'd have thought it'd be worth about £300 - £320 ish but thought I'd get a 2nd opinion
looks like its off on ebay then

If you were to drop the drives & monitor etc, from the equation,
I picked up a near on exactly the same spec board/ memory / processor / gfx card & case etc for £130 that was about 6 months ago.
one option you could look at is to put in a dual core cpu if your board will take it, it may help to sell it on

I'd say around the £200 mark. Old computers are still old computers. When you can pop down to PC World and walk out with a desktop/laptop that has dual core, 2Gb Ram, Vista Home Premium and a warranty all for £400 you have to think carefully.
Yes, your GPU is going to be a lot better, but that is the only saving grace for the machine.
