Default Mac - Movie timescores

This is something I've never seen happen with windows, and seems odd to me.

I have a stack of movie files, some .mpg some .avi. They're all south park, so all the same size about 200mb for mpg, 40-70mb for avi.

On some of the mpgs the timescore seems set wrong, it gets to the end of the credits (30s) and stops. I know the full episode is in there as if you then click on the time slider you can get 10-15 seconds of some of the middle of the episode.

Often the avi's just come up with - 'this is not a movie file' probably just a corrupt file but I'm sure the used to work on my mates computer..

It's always using quicktime btw.

Cheers,
Dave

Download a copy of VLC and see if the timecodes are correct. It would not surprise me if QT is being a little odd. I presume it's the standard QT and not the Pro version? Perhaps this is a "feature" of the non Pro version.

Interestingly enough the timescore stays the same with vlc viewer. If you scan forward it crashes with a scanned to far error, but if you leave it alone it just stops counting at 30secs and keeps playing.

Must just be bad quality ripping I think. Thanks for the help
