'interesting' fault on WInXP SP2 computer
It's old and previously had Win2k on it.
We did an upgrade to WinXP SP2, overwriting the existing install (no re-partition)
What they're finding is that sometimes when they log on (its networked) the desktop user created shortcuts have gone from the desktop and the email account in Outlook Express is missing and has to be replaced.
Anyone seen this before ?

not using the correct profile ?
Is it a domain PC ? have a look in the event log to see if there are any errors re profiles not loading etc, or have a look in My Documents to see which profile it is using when you get the shortcuts, and try it again when you dont get the shortcuts and see which profile path it points to
edited to say that should be look at where the My Documents is located, ie right click My Documents and select properties
unless you are using folder redirection, but worth a check anyway
