Internet modem question
I have moved into my mates house for a few months and I was wondering how easy it would be to change his set up from his talk talk modem which is connected to his machine on ethernet cable, to my old bt modem which can be connected direct to his machine and supply my machine wireless?
Does that make sense?
Should I just be able to swap the modems over and away it goes?
Or will it be a bit more involved than that?
Thanks for your help, sorry if its a bit unclear.

Hi Mark
In theory not a problem... However, there are a couple of things to consider.
You would need to replicate the configuration of the Talk Talk modem on to your modem.
There may also be a clause in the Talk Talk contact that requires you to keep their modem plugged in (it is possible they may check by pinging the box or checking MAC addresses etc).
Other options would be to buy a wireless card for your mates PC, connect to that from your wireless laptop and then share the ADSL line. Bit more involved this though.
It maybe possible to fit another wireless router / access point in line to the Talk Talk modem and connect both the PC and your wireless laptop to this and then share the ADSL line.
Or ask Talk Talk if they do a wireless router - many suppliers now provide these as standard - this might be the best way forward.
