does anyone know if somethings about to happen to metronet/plusnet?
just been sent an email to claim £5 off each month for 6 months. happy days, only thing is by claiming the offer you commit to a 12 month contract.
now while i'm happy with the service and price, i'm wondering if it's leading up to a catch. the beauty of metronet for me has always been price and the fact i can walk away any month i choose.
so has anyone found a snag to this offer? i can't find if the price skyrockets after the 6 months or if it stays the same price plan i'm on now.
any ideas guys? ta

What I would do?
Migrate to either Newnet or IDnet or UKFSN
thinkbroadband :: The UK's largest independent Broadband / ADSL review site - Your guide to UK broadband Internet.
check the above
sorry, to answer the question im not sure what is happening at that end, I left Plusnet years ago when they went the way of the fish
would depend on what was available at the exchange I suppose

As I said would happen at the time I joined Newnet it would become a victim of its own success. This is coming through now as for the second time they are changging their packages as they just can not afford the demand from the number of customers they have now They are asking customers what they prefer to happen, lower monthly download limits or to have their monthly premiums increase
Newnet is no longer the fantastic deal it was a year ago. Its still has no port throttling/traffic shaping though which is still something most others don't offer.

I spoke to them this morning about an open ticket I have with them and asked about their up and coming changes. No decision has been taken yet as to which way they will go but if they do reduce the monthly quotas it will apparently only be by a small amount. My quote is 25gb a month and i'm on the £21.99 package. The service is stll excellent but they admitted this morning they have become a victim of their own success in that they now have so many customers they can't afford the bandwidth demand so something will have to change to cover the cost. Shame they couldn't deal with this by changing the packages for new customers before it got to this situation so that those who took their service when it wasn't over subscribed don't have to pay for the new customers extra bandwidth

I am with Plusnet, and their service was poor, but I perservered, and since they were bought by BT, the transformation has been remarkable. Execllent service, very quick speeds, even download limits have increased!
I don't know whether I want to take this deal or not though, I also like the idea I can leave at a months notice.
Geezer
