right,
my lap top has had a dodgy power lead on it, i ve ordered a new one from ebay, its dues any time except computer is fooked.

its an old one running win2000, it boots up, and then stops halfway thru the screen saying a long error code and check for a virus or run chkdsk /f
but how can i check for avirus, when its up and running, and also gow do i run chkdsk /f?
i take it it would be in the run cmd thing but im not getting that far.

any ideas.
i dont want to have to buy another one if i can help it


its on ablue and black ds screen and wont let me go any further,

have you tried booting to safe mode? if that doesnt work, see if you can find a copy of ntfschk anywhere - a bootable program that does the chkdsk thing without the operating system starting

it said inaccessible boot device,
i migt bin it tbh its very old battery doesnt hold its charge hinge is knoacked apart from that its fine.
might wait till xmas and see what i can get with nmy bonus in the sales

boot up from the windows 2000 cd, go into repair mode, and recovery console

run chkdsk, and fixboot

see this happen a lot these days
