I've got a friend who watched mine when in Aus last month and said it was acceptable. It's not great but works better than I would expect.

I use Zattoo when travelling, the channels are limited, although there are more in Mainland Europe than the UK, but it's free, good quality and enough for a News 24 fix. Zattoo - TV to Go

its fine for use on your home LAN where upload is fast, but when you're on the road, you're limited by you're home internet connection's upload speed.

Don't get me wrong - its watchable, but could be much better. Just make sure you have a fast home internet connection and by this I mean fast download and upload. Just because you have a 4Mbit internet connection (which is your download speed) doesn't mean you have fast upload speed (typically 256Kb/s)

Remember it lets you remote control your Sky and Sky+ wherever you are in the world (provided you have an internet connection). You can watch all your recorded programs on it.

Remember the key is a fast upload speed where the slingbox is sited (usually in the home). In the UK its typically 256Kb/s which provides "watchable" TV when you're away from home, but by no means high quality TV.

Check this ISP's page (they're very good) for a rough idea what their upload speeds are:
Nildram UK - High-end Professional Business Broadband - up to 8Mb!

thank for all the response.

i was thinking of moving up to be* (bethere.co.uk) because their upload is 1.3meg instead of the usual 256Kbit.

can i use the slingbox as a PVR? i dont have sky and would like to record freeview channels and then view them over the internet.
