Any warnings popping up in Windows? Stupid question but what does it sound like? similar kind of beep you hear when you power the machine on, or different.

The only guess I have is perhaps it's the motherboard's speaker beeping at you because the machine is overheating, which would make some sense as burning would consume a lot of processor power, as could watching movie.

If you have an Intel processor you could download this which would tell you fan speed and temp.
