Default Xbox 360 wireless adaptor?

Why this bit of kit still stays at £60 notes is beyond me....

its usb, so must confirm to the usb standard....

so would one of these work in its place

Router, Switch, IP, VOIP, USB, ADSL, DSL, Wireless, Wi Fi, WIFI, WLAN, MP3, Flash Drive, Storage, Access point, PctradeshopLPRWiFi PCI 54Mbps Wireless PCI Network LAN adapter 802.11gLUTWiFi USB 2.0 125/54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Network LAN adapter 802.

almost tempted to spend the £6 odd quid just to see

anyone else thought or tried this

No USB gizmo's don't work

If you want to do it cheap you'll need to buy an Ethernet Bridge

I have a wireless bridge, something like this: Netgear WGE111 Wireless Game Adaptor, PS2, Xbox 360 etc on eBay Wireless Routers Access Points, Wireless Networking, Networking, Computing (item 260151543413 end time 25-Aug-07 19:54:00 BST)

(Although I have a US robotics one)

It's basically a device to give wireless capability to any device that has an ethernet port.

It does exactly the same job as the MS wireless adaptor, except it connects via ethernet as opposed to USB.

Understand that much, but the 360 has usb, and the official gizmo connects via there, so how does it differ from the other usb wireless gizmo's?

I think the official MS adaptor uses their own protocol on the device for networking, hence why a generic USB wireless adapter won't work. Seems most people who are using a non MS decice will be using some kind of bridge. I use an Airport Express on my xbox, which is connected to my existing wireless network.
