Add another router to imporve wireless connection ?
I have a Netgear Wireless router, connected by cable to the home PC (as they sit nect to each other) and connected to my laptop via wireless.
We have a big house with lots of interference (wirelless gates, CCTV, etc etc) and the laptop struggles to pick up the wireless connection.
Can I add another router to another part of the house nearer where the laptop usually sits, so that it picks up that signal and not the one from the original router ?

Yes, you would need to
* Give the new router a different IP address
* Turn off DHCP on the new router, will clash otherwise
* connect the two using crossover cable, but to be honest these days most
if not all routers have auto-uplink switches so cable type isnt important.
* Different name for wireless connection to differentiate between the two
Bigger ariels, wireless range boosters, home plug kits and the like are things to consider also

Thanks Mike,
Its a Netgear "Range Max" which I thought would do the job but alas I think the distance to the laptop plus the wireless interference in the house degrades the signal.
The range booster & plug kits sound interesting - any details ?
Cheers.
