Computer Memories

It has to be the Atari 2600 for me as well. Combat and Space Invaders, I played for hours.
Then for computers, I had a ZX80, Vic 20, Atari 400, Atari 800, Atari 130XE, Atari ST, Commodore Amiga A500 and then a PC. I briefly flirted with a MAC but the software was too expensive.

zx48k was my first too and spent many hours playing Beach Head, Daley Thomsons Decathlon, Match Day. Then got a Spectrum +2 but still played pretty much the same games. Then when I was 15 I did work experience over the summer holidays for 4 weeks where they gave me £100 a week. Did it purely to buy myself an Amiga 500. Was the first expensive item I had saved up for at £400 and was so excited at the end of the 4 weeks being able to go out and buy it. That was my prize possession. I've still got it up in the loft all boxed up, if I had the space i'd still use it now for Sensi Soccer and Kick Off/Player Manager

Getting my Amiga. Quite simply the best thing I've ever owned. So many great games, Loved using the Paint program, The demos used to blow people away with what it could do, swapping games at school (bag was full of disks) naughty I know
Saying that I think I'd have got more fumbles behind the bike sheds if I'd not had it

Finding Colossal Cave on the mainframe in about 1979.
"You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike"!
Getting caught running Colossal Cave during the overnight batch run
Seeing colour graphics from the mainframe output onto a BBC micro.
Writing my first assembler on an Apple II.

Also forgot playing Elite and wasting god knows how long docking space ships, trading narcotics and gun running They really should do a modern day online multiplayer version with stunning graphics and space battles but still centred on the trading environment!

Commodore 64. Those were the days! 1986 to be precise. Hyper Sports, Daley Thompsons, Ghost Busters, Rambo..... This list could go on too. Oh my god the time has really flown. 21 years later and consoles struggle to bring out a proper track and field sports game.
Two weeks to load a game. Shh be quiet. Doh, got to start it again.

The ZX81's successor , the ZX Spectrum wasn't powerful enough to run this game as it addressed the screen in an entirely different manner. You can play the ZX81 version now on this emulator vb81's Homepage
Incidentally, your name, reminds me of a really cool PC game - BIOFORGE !!

Elite was indeed way ahead of its time
I absolutley lived for that game ! every spare minute I had I spent on it
Think one of my best memories was finally getting a docking computer so I didnt have to manually dock anymore!
What a pain in the *** that was!!!
Anyone remember the music it used to play when it was docking??

ZX80, VIC20, Amiga 500 , Amiga 1200 with 4MB RAM! & 420MB Hard Drive. Do you remember the days when you asked the sales person @ Dixons if the Amiga Came with Workbench. And got the reply, the computer desk sells seperately?

Best memories -
Hobbit on the spectrum, it was bundled so was the first thing played and I could only be arsed to do about 4 screens!
Then 48k MS Flight Sim, that lasted about an hour.
Penetrator was the game played to death and I was over the moon when I completed it (only completed one other in the 25 years since!)
By the time DT decathlon came out, the computer had less respect so the keyboard came off and straight on the membrane for lightning responses!
(And yes, I did used to "tune" my Rubik's Cube to get the best balance between tension and smooth twists )

My Dad was a teacher in the 80s so had funny Acorn computers. BBC B, Master, Electron. Then RM 380Z/480Z (with 'winchester disk') and Nimbus.
Then in 1989 he got an Apple Macintosh SE/30... and I've used them ever since.
